Quite a Couple of Weeks, Huh?
Quite a Couple of Weeks, Huh?
Frankly, I don’t know whether to shit or go blind.
First off—I’m damn impressed and grateful that Israel finally went after Iran’s nuclear facilities and military brass.
After 26 years of the Islamic Republic’s official policy of threatening to wipe Israel off the face of the earth—and after years of Israeli civilians being murdered by Iran’s terrorist proxies: Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic Jihad, the Houthis—Israel finally stopped talking and started swinging.
How the hell the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and the mullahs got suckered by the Netanyahu/Trump “disagreement” charade is beyond me—but fooled they were.
Was the whole spat between Netanyahu and Trump staged? We’ll probably never know.
Did Trump get caught flat-footed and then scramble to pretend he was in on it? That would not surprise me. Classic Trump.
Once the trap was set and Israel’s strike on Iran’s nuclear sites scored a crushing success, I can believe Trump wanted a piece of the win. His “maybe, maybe not” and “I’ll decide in two weeks” routine? Just more head games to keep the Iranians off balance.
And then Trump did what I think he’s always wanted an excuse to do: he unleashed the biggest goddamn weapon in the U.S. arsenal short of a nuke.
The B-2 Stealth bombers delivered their payload and came home without a scratch.
Cue the predictable outrage from left-wing Democrats screeching that the strike was unconstitutional. Spare me.
Congress hasn’t declared war since 1941. But since then?
Truman went to Korea.
Eisenhower went to Lebanon and Guatemala.
Kennedy went to Cuba.
Johnson went to Santo Domingo, Vietnam, Cambodia.
Reagan went to El Salvador, Lebanon, Grenada.
Bush 41 went to Panama.
Clinton went to Haiti, Iraq, Kosovo.
Obama went to Libya.
Not one of those decisions initially received a Congressional OK. No President since FDR has bothered for a formal declaration of war the Congress. Get real already - this is what post-WWII Presidents do. It’s baked in.
The same people howling about Gaza are now howling about Iraq.
“Death to America”—Iran’s favorite slogan right alongside “Death to Israel”—apparently means nothing to them. They’d have us believe it’s just noise.
Just like they’d have us believe that “From the river to the sea” and “Globalize the Intifada” are cute little slogans with no teeth.
Bullshit.
And these same leftists who foam at the mouth for women’s rights?
Now they’re propping up a regime that tortures and murders women for showing their hair or dancing.
The pro-Hamas crowd, who say murder equals resistance, suddenly found their pacifist hearts when it came to stopping Iran from getting nukes. I listened to AOC, Rashida Tlaib, Bernie Sanders and thought: This is why Democrats lose.
Their left wing has lost its goddamn mind.
And now, just when the U.S. and Israel have the chance to finally crush the Iranian threat—Trump calls for a ceasefire.
What the actual fuck?
I’m not even sure he discussed it with Netanyahu or the Ayatollah. Did Trump just want his July 4th fireworks show? Or did his isolationist buddies talk him down?
Hell if I know.
But if Iran gets another shot at building nukes, it’ll be on this administration’s watch.
Then I see a poll: Over half of Americans think we shouldn’t have bombed Iran.
Really?
The alternative—an Iran armed with nukes that could show up in London, Paris, Berlin, and/or New York, D.C. is somehow the better plan?
What the actual fuck?
There’s a 2012 Aaron Sorkin movie where Jeff Daniels’ character, Will McAvoy, gets asked: Why is America the greatest country in the world?
He says:
“America is not the greatest country in the world.
We sure used to be.
We stood up for what was right.
We fought for moral reasons.
We passed and struck down laws for moral reasons.
We waged war on poverty, not poor people.
We aspired to intelligence; we didn’t belittle it.
We didn’t scare so easy.
And we were able to do all that because we were informed.”
I think we’ve lost that.
We are scared too easy now. We cheer for what’s evil and call it justice because we’re too damn lazy, stupid, self-interested, or brainwashed to know or do better.
We had a chance to rid the world of a threat—a regime despised even by its own people—and we walked away. We protested doing the right thing because doing the wrong thing fits neatly into our lazy, broken worldview.
Trump made the bold move, then blinked. The right-wingers folded, whining that it wasn’t our problem. The left-wingers? Hell, maybe they actually want Israel gone.
Neither side seems to miss understanding that our weakness today could come back to bite us—hard.
Israel did the job the world should’ve done years ago.
The United States, for once, helped finish (or partly finish) the task—at least for now.
The bleating from the UK, France, Canada, and the rest? Just that—bleating.
They’ve lived so long under America’s security umbrella they’ve forgotten how to defend themselves. They’re just now waking up to that fact—but can’t square it with their politics.
The left-wing protesters? They’ve never lived under constant threat. They have no clue what Israelis have endured for over a century.
The right-wing isolationists? They’ve learned nothing from history—and if they get their way, they’ll damn well repeat it.
These aren’t happy thoughts, this is a goddamn warning.
I wish it were a wake-up call.
